  • Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader and party Spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC on Monday said that his party had syndicate system, cowardice and authoritarianism.

Speaking at a two-day workshop on Fundamental Principles of Democratic Constitution and State Restructuring in Pokhara, KC said that party cadres at grassroot level have become too coward due to the authoritarianism existing at top leadership level.

Spokesperson KC for the first raised his finger at his party leadership, “There is syndicate system within the NC. This has promoted authoritarianism in the central leadership.”

Admitting to shortcomings in party leadership, KC stressed on the need for regional and district leaders to be bold enough to deal with top leaders on the basis of right and wrong.  He urged party cadres not to be coward before party leaders.

“The cowardice developed within the NC has made cadres too weak to cope with Maoists intellectually,” KC added.

Referring to the concept of ‘people’s republic,’ KC said that he had never seen it anywhere in the world. He reiterated that his party would never compromise with anybody against democracy.

Speaking at the same program was another NC leader Narahari Acharya, who said that his party’s chief intellectual competitor would be the CPN-Maoist. For this, he stressed on the need for Nepali Congress to be psychologically prepared for accepting the concept of state restructuring.

Acharya put force on the concept of state restructuring on geographical, political, economic, cultural, ethnic and linguistic bases.

Similarly, senior leader and former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat pointed out to the need of further debate within the party on state restructuring.
