Prime minister Prachanda instructs team to start peace talks

  • Prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Wednesday instructed the government peace talks team to start peace talks with Terai-based armed groups as soon as possible.

     

    The government peace talks team has already revealed that it has had informal talks with more than a dozen armed outfits operating in the Terai. Local Development Minister Ram Chandra Jha had been to the Indian state of Bihar to meet armed outfits’ leaders.

     

    The cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar today decided to start talks soon. Ministers also decided to contribute to peace talks on their behalf.


     
    The cabinet meeting has also formed an economic council under the chairmanship of the prime minister with a view to working towards economic revolution.

     

    Government peace talks team members have stated that the leaders of armed outfits appear positive to proposed dialogue.
