  • Teachers shut down all private and public schools in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The Institutional School Teachers' Union (ISTU) organized this shut-down against the non-implementation of the past agreement with the government.

The past agreement between the government and the ISTU include professional and legal provisions.

The union has also demanded the reinstitution of 18 teachers illogically dismissed two weeks ago from Destilak School in Kathmandu.

It has reminded the government of its responsibility towards people’s education.

The ISTU has also opposed the government’s decision to impose a five percent of tax on profit-making schools.
