  • In the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year, the government has been able to collect revenue of Rs.32.97 billion. This is a rise by 35.5 percent in comparison with the same period of the previous year.

Revenue Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Krishna Hari Baskota says, “If this trend continues, we can easily meet this target.”

The government’s target of collecting an unprecedented amount of revenue has been considered very ambitious—Rs. 141 billion this year alone.

Profit-making educational institutions have refused to pay an educational service tax of five percent.

Similarly, businesspersons have begun to put pressure on the government against ambitious tax plans.
